【简答题】

Most young people enjoy some form of physical activity. It may be walking, cycling or swimming, in winter, or skating or skiing. It may be a of some kind ― football, hockey, golf or tennis. It may be mountaineering. These who have a passion 【26】 climbing high and difficult mountains are often 【27】 with astonishment. Why are men and women 【28】 to suffer cold and hardship, and to 【29】 on high mountains This astonishment is caused, probably, by the difference between mountaineering and other forms of activity 【30】 which men give their leisure. Mountaineering is a sport and not a . There are no man-made roles, as there are for 【31】 s as golf and football. There are, of course, rules of different kinds which it would be erous to 【32】 ,but it is this from man-made rules 【33】 makes mountaineering attractive to many people. Those who climb mountains are free to use their own 【34】 If we 【35】 mountaineering with other more familiar sports, we might think that one big difference is 【36】 mountaineering is not a" team work". We should be mistaken in this. There are, it is true, no "matches" 【37】 "teams" of climbers, but when climbers are on a rock face linked by a rope on which their lives may 【38】 ,there is obviously teamwork. A mountain climber knows that he may have to fight forces that are stronger and more powerful than man. He has to fight 【39】 of nature. His sport requires high mental and 【40】 qualities. A mountain climber 【41】 to improve in skill year after year. A skier is probably past his best by the age of thirty, and most international tennis champions 【42】 in their early twenties. A.
My old car broke down on Virginia’s Norfolk Freeway 3 months ago. It was half an hour before sunset, and I was 30 miles from home. Since nobody can pick me up, decided to take a bus after my car had died. Later a bus pulled up beside the road, and quickly ran to the bus and asked the driver how far he was going. "Two more crossroads," he said. Then he told me there was another bus I could take and promised me to give me a lift. "This would clearly be a long night," I said to myself. He dropped me off at the bus stop and told me which bus to take.
B.
After waiting nearly 40 minutes, I began to think about grabbing a taxi home which would surely cost me an arm and a leg, Then a bus pulled up in front of me. No lighted number could be seen from its windscreen (挡风玻璃),which meant that the bus was already out of service. But to my surprise, the door opened slowly, and I found it was the same driver. "I can’t keep you here," he said. "This isn’t the best place. I’ll give you a ride home." "You are going to drive me home in the bus" I asked. "No, I’ll send you home in my car," he said. "It’s a very long way," I said. "Come on." he said. We drove from the station in his car. On our way, he began to tell me a story. In fact, a few days earlier, when his brother ran out of gas, a warm-hearted female driver picked him up and took him to the nearest service station. "I’m just passing the favor along," he said, with a smile on his face.
