Under the increasingly compelling pressure from the job markets, more U. S. college students are trying to seek an internship opportunity for the coming winter break.
While it may seem odd to start 1 in September for a four-week internship program next January, experience has shown that such 2 planning is essential. The purpose of the programs is to give undergraduates a chance to 3 career opportunities through work experience. Such short term experience will be helpful in finding permanent 4 after graduation. The programs 5 provide students with a full-time job without pay, or academic 6 for the month of January when the college is closed. Opportunities are 7 in a wide range of fields including publishing, public 8 , health care and finance. The jobs are sponsored by alumni(校友) who are active in these fields. 9
The function of the alumni office is to bring undergraduates and the sponsors together. 10 Then their most important responsibility is to write to the sponsors and apply for the internship. Usually, this task must be done before November. Besides, they are also responsible for 11
