We thank you very much for your letter of July 13 enclosing your order for 1,000 pieces of Lotus (莲花) pattern cotton cloth. We appreciate your demand for this article and should like to supply your order from stock as we have been doing.
We are the largest manufacturer supplying the goods. However, recent tastes are changing and the goods you require are now out of fashion. Like other manufactures, we have so little demand for them that we had to stop the production. We suppose, however, that you would like our new substitute product of which we are sending you with the letter.
This has all the good quality of the old product but its appearance is much smarter. We offer it in the price of US $26 per yard (码) C. I.F. (到岸价格) London for delivery with a month. We have sent the ’samples by special express delivery and await your immediate acceptance of the recommendation goods.
