I'm flying back to Paris . Sitting quietly in the waiting room , I find aman and a woman behind me . Both seem to be in their 60s . The man is in a uniform( 制服 ) . I can ’ t tell whether he ’ S a pilot or not . He goes away after a while and the woman stays seated , looking straight ahead . I want to get a better seat ,So I go to thegate( 登机口 )where the flight attendants( 乘务员 )are just arriving . One of them is talking tothe man at the gate .“ See that old man , Tom? ” she says ,“ It ’ s his last flight! He 's leaving his job after this flight , taking his wife to Paris for the im portant moment! ” Right away I know who they ' re talking about , and after getting a nice seat , I come back . The pilot comes back with drinks . He gives his wife a small glass before sitting down next to her . They drilnk slowly and then walk up to the gate . I see them taking a picture in front of the words “ 5 : 45PM ”“ Flight914 ”“ Paris ”. Soon he 's gone into the plane and begins his last trip in the pilot 's seat .
