The story took place in England during the Napoleonic Wars(1799-1815). The story begins with Amelia Sedley and Rebecca Sharp leaving Miss Pinkerton’s academy to live out their lives in Vanity Fair. Clever and ambitious (1) ______ is born into poverty as the daughter of a penniless artist and a French opera girl. Her friend (2) ______ is a kind-hearted girl from a rich merchant family. Becky plans to marry Amelia’s brother Joseph Sedley fail. She marries (3) _______, but he is disinherited by his rich aunt, and her hopes of being married to a wealthy husband dashed Becky manages to live at the height of fashion through the patronage of (4) _______.
